Just a reminder I do not own Torchwood, or Doctor some &%^@( jerk .... Well, just to let you know I make no money and only intend this for entertainment.
This story takes place shortly after Meat. I liked the episode but it left a few question for me at the end.
The feedback and comments have been great and feed the muse. Hope you enjoy it.
Thanks for all the well wishes over my back, I'm off work for a few days, might help me get this stoy done,
Jack grinned as he and Ianto dried off from their bath. He didn’t think he had ever been so clean or satisfied. At least not in three thousand years.
“You better get that I was fucked silly look off your face before it freezes that way,” Ianto said, towelling off his wet hair.
“I will when you do the same,” Jack said, taking the wet towel from Ianto and tossing it over to the corner.
“Jack,” Ianto whined. “You don’t throw your towels... What the hell was that?” Ianto demanded as a door opened and the dirty objects were sucked in.
“The ultimate laundry-shoot.”
Ianto wandered over unaware of his state of undress. “Why the hell couldn’t we have that in the Hub? I could have just shoved all the pizza boxes into there. That alone would have saved me a few hours a day.”
“Technology wasn’t available. Besides, I wouldn’t have gotten to see your ass in those cute suits bending over.”
Jack watched Ianto head into the closet area without saying a word. He pulled on his briefs and began searching for something to wear.
“You’re mad because I wanted to watch your ass?”
“No, I’m not mad; I’m just wondering how much of a slob you really are or was it just an excuse to get me to bed over.”
Jack hugged him. “I always wanted to see you bend over. But I never deliberately made a mess, sorry to say I really am I bit of a slob part of the reason I created Cook and Wooster, without them I would have probably drowned in garbage long before I got you here. How about wearing the suit at the end?” Jack asked, hoping to get away from any more talk about his shortcomings.
Ianto went and looked at the black double-breasted suit. “Maybe I should save that for our date?”
“Sounds good to me. How about tonight?”
“I’d like that. But I think we had better eat now or Cook will have my head. I’m supposed to be encouraging you to eat, and after today I think we’ve burned lots of calories.”
“You’re right.” Jack went over to the area with the jeans and dress pants. “Here,” Jack said, handing Ianto a pair of khakis and a blue polo shirt.
“You’re planning my clothes?”
“I got these all made for you, believe my I’ve been picturing you wearing almost all of them, only second to me imagining how you look out of them, and if you want to eat at all today you better get dressed.”
“What about you? What are you going to wear?” Ianto asked getting dressed.
Jack shrugged. “I don’t mind going au natural.”
“I do. I don’t need the distraction. Once we’re done eating we’re going to get your clothes and bring them up here along with whatever else it is you need.”
“You sure? This was meant to be your room. I’m fine downstairs.”
“I’m not staying here by myself, Jack; we are either together or not. I had enough of this limbo back in Cardiff, I won’t put up with it here.”
“Okay, you win,” Jack said, with a big grin. “How can I say no to such a determined Welshman?”
“You can’t. Do you think you could at least put on your pants from earlier? After we eat, we’ll get your clothes and you can put on something clean. I don’t want to be the only one dressed and frankly naked people eating is anything but sexy.”
“Is that why you wouldn’t let me eat in bed?”
“No, that was because you left crumbs everywhere and they made me itchy.”
Jack chuckled as he headed back to the bedroom through the closet. He left Ianto to finish getting dressed to get the food Wooster brought up for them organized.
He spied the two boxes by the door. When he looked in them, he realized that Wooster had already brought up his few meagre belongings.
“What’s all this?” Ianto asked.
“My stuff. Guess Wooster thought I would need them.”
“This can’t be all of it? He must be making a couple of trips.”
“No, this is all that I have. When I finally picked this place to call home, I had been travelling for quite some time already. Didn’t have much more than what was on my back.”
“What about your tin? The ones with all the pictures of your family and friends.”
“Destroyed in the-” Jack caught himself before he let that bit of information slip. God, he so wanted to tell Ianto what happened to him, and Stephen.
The problem was what if he told Ianto what happened to him and Stephen, would his lover feel duty bound to go back and sacrifice himself for all those children. He hoped not but he knew Ianto and the man had a streak of duty the size of the damn rift itself.
He wondered if Tosh and Owen were still alive in Ianto’s time. He could tell Ianto about them, maybe even save them from Grey or the Pharm. No, he knew it made him a monster he wouldn’t tell Ianto about Tosh, Owen, or his death and Stephen’s at the hand of the 456. He knew telling Ianto would mean the younger man would demand a return back to 21st century Cardiff.
“Destroyed in the what?” Ianto asked, interrupting Jack’s thoughts.
“Doesn’t matter, it’s one of those things I shouldn’t have mentioned.”
He could see that Ianto wanted to ask more questions but his lover knew when and where to pick his battles. “Can you tell me how you got the videos Wooster mentioned?”
Jack held up with wrist strap. “Had them all downloaded as they happened. Guess I should have done the same with the pictures.” Jack waved Ianto over to the table. “Let’s eat, and we can talk more if you want?”
Jack hoped Ianto could see he wasn’t in the mood to talk. Ianto always used to know how to read his frame of mind.
Ianto sat down at the table and reached out for Jack’s hand. “How about we save it for later? Let’s just eat this lovely meal, Cook made for us. Maybe you can tell me more about the people of the village?”
Jack smiled, happy to do just that. He loved spending any time with Ianto, it was more memories for later.
Ianto looked out the window. “The view was amazing. You can see the whole valley.”
There were large trees and trails covering their property as far as the eyes could see. He looked up to see the white fluffy clouds.
“The sky is purple,” Ianto said in shock. “It’s the first time I’ve really gotten to have a good look around here.”
“Mauve, actually,” Jack said, pouring the tea into the fine china cups. “The planet is in a different orbit than you’re used to, and it’s a little farther from the sun than good old Earth. It all adds up to a purple sky. I was once on a planet that had a green sky and the grass was orange. It was like someone had played with the colour on a vid screen.”
“What?” Jack asked, his mouth full of cucumber sandwich.
“Back in the 21st century, we called them television or TV.”
“Right, sorry, kind of forgot about those. I remember us watching it though, Sunday mornings; old movies, or DVDs, right?”
Ianto smiled. “Right. James Bond, Lord of the Rings, the occasional World War one and two movies so you could tell me everything they got wrong.”
“Well they anything for a good story even if the truth gets in the way.”
“Bringing up bad memories.”
“They aren’t bad, they are what they are and remembering the past isn’t bad. I spend a lot of time trying to keep the memories alive. That’s why the videos, and the pictures. I don’t want to forget the people who made me who I am.”
“But why me?”
“Why you what?”
“Why am I here and they are...?”
Ianto shrugged. “Yeah, I guess that’s what I’m asking. Everyone I ever knew, all my family too is dead and have been for a very long time.”
Jack reached over and squeezed his hand. “Because I love you. It might seem like a crazy thing to have done but I hope it makes up for some of the terrible things I did in my life and for the horrible way I treated you when I should have done nothing more than love you.”
“God knows I did some horrible things for love.”
But Ianto wouldn’t listen. “I almost released a cyberwoman on the world thinking I was going to get back the woman he loved. However, after my month long suspension and thanks to a lot of yelling and screaming at you, I finally realized my Lisa had died that day in London just another victim of the Torchwood and the ghosts. So creating a world, a home where none had been before doesn't seem so wrong.” Ianto gave a squeeze back. “I love you too.”
